A Heavy-Lift Drone Moves From Design Toward Its First Flight
On October 6, ZenaTech said the ZenaDrone 2000's folding-arm airframe was assembled, its gasoline propulsion and 36-inch propellers were bench-tested, and flight-control software was undergoing ground tests. The company says the first full prototype is under construction in Sharjah, UAE. Management now expects initial flight testing in the first quarter of 2027. Those tests are planned to examine takeoff, hover, landing, endurance and autonomous navigation; later phases would address threat pursuit and maritime launch-and-recovery. The stated four-plus-hour hover endurance is a design objective, not a demonstrated flight result.[1]
This creates an identifiable defense-technology milestone, but the October announcement does not establish a completed flight, regulatory clearance, a procurement contract or defense-product revenue. A successful demonstration and a paid customer order are separate gates. That distinction matters when a prototype story is presented alongside an already operating service business.[1][2]
Drone as a Service Supplies Revenue, Not Yet Self-Funding Cash Flow
The June-quarter filing reports C$9.33 million in total revenue, up from C$2.24 million a year earlier. Converted at the Bank of Canada's October 6 CAD/USD rate of 0.7029, these figures are approximately $6.56 million and $1.58 million, respectively. Drone as a Service contributed C$8.63 million of the latest quarter, about 92.5% of sales. First-half revenue was C$17.73 million, approximately $12.47 million on the same illustrative conversion basis. These are reported results from a business built substantially through acquisitions, not disclosed defense-drone deliveries.[2][7][8]
Operating scale comes with a financing test. The second quarter recorded a C$22.54 million net loss (about $15.85 million at that FX reference), while the first half used C$43.48 million in operating cash (about $30.56 million). At June 30, cash and marketable securities totaled C$34.58 million (about $24.30 million), a dated balance rather than an October cash estimate. Management discusses continued access to equity and credit as part of its liquidity plans. Revenue growth is compelling only if later periods demonstrate healthier margins, collections and financing efficiency.[2][3][7]
Share Expansion Is the Counterweight to the Operating Story
The company's interim statement reported 94,884,193 common shares at June 30, versus 48,020,885 at year-end 2025. A separate October 2 filing reported 201,157,883 outstanding at September 30—approximately 112% more than the June count. That interval's entire increase cannot be assigned to one financing without a later share-issuance bridge. The June statement separately listed 27.57 million preferred shares, convertible into three common shares each, and 13.40 million outstanding warrants; those are June-dated potential-supply categories, not September issued-common or a current free float. Later exercises, conversions, cancellations and terms require new filings.[2][4]
At the October 6 regular-session close of $1.30, multiplying that price by the last filed September common count gives an illustrative common-equity value of approximately $261.5 million. The price and share count are from different dates; this is not an independently confirmed October 6 transfer-agent total or a fully diluted valuation. Faster revenue can coexist with weaker per-share economics when the denominator expands quickly.[4][5]
The October 6 Chart Still Needs a Confirmed Reversal
Open ZENA's chart on TradingView →
October 6 completed regular-session snapshot, Eastern time: Nasdaq reported a $1.30 close after the prior session's $1.28 close, with a $1.29–$1.35 regular-session range. Simple closing-price averages computed from Nasdaq's prior daily history plus that completed close were approximately $1.314 (5 sessions), $1.379 (10) and $1.443 (20). A 14-session simple-gain/loss RSI calculated on the same closes was approximately 39.7. The price remained below the 10- and 20-session averages; the product update did not by itself establish a chart breakout. The October 6 volume comparison is omitted because the retrieved Nasdaq history had not yet posted that completed bar.[5][6]
Support: the recent $1.26–$1.29 area, including the October 5 low. Confirmation: sustained closes above approximately $1.38, then $1.44, with participation rather than a brief headline spike. Invalidation: failure under the $1.26 area, a missed flight-test timetable or further financing that dilutes the per-share case. These are October 6 references, not October 7 prices or guaranteed targets.[1][5][6]
The Next Evidence Has to Join the Two Sides of ZENA
- A documented full-prototype flight and measured endurance replace design specifications with test results.
- Identifiable paid defense orders or customer pilots move the interceptor narrative beyond development.
- Subsequent DaaS filings demonstrate improving cash conversion as acquisitions are integrated.
- New share-count and financing disclosures establish whether growth benefits each common share.
ZENA is worth your attention because it combines an expanding service operation with a defined defense-drone engineering milestone. The second-quarter sales growth is reported, and the next flight phase is dated.[1][2] The bullish case requires measured flight progress, actual customer demand and a slowing need for external capital. Large operating cash usage and a September share count more than double the June figure make that execution test unusually important.[2][3][4]
